International Straw Building Conference

3 - 9 March 2016

Natural Building in the 21st Century

ISBC will run for five days, 3-9 March in Methven, Canterbury. YIMFY trustee Min Hall is on the committee and the rest of the YIMFY team have been lending their support through organising the New Zealand Natural Building Day, home stays for overseas visitors, filming of interviews at the event itself and more.
We the Trustees, are planning to officially launch YIMFY at the conference.

The theme, “Natural Building in the 21st Century” is completely in line with YIMFY’s raison d’etre: the promotion and advancement of appropriate building technology in New Zealand. To date there are over thirty presenters coming from twelve countries, including New Zealand, to deliver lectures, workshops and demonstrations. There will also be panel discussions, music, movies, the Straw Bale Olympics, and perhaps most importantly great conversations over wholesome food. Keynote speakers include some of the world’s leading exponents of straw bale and earth– builders, designers, engineers, teachers, researchers and code writers.
